WE FONDLY REMEMBER

The Observatory was initially operated by Barbara C. Bilsborough, the original "Bird Lady" of Harford Glen (shown here with a Green Heron). Barbara started banding operations at the Glen in 1980 and continued through 1992. We honor her regularly by using her favorite phrase "watch the little birdie." Barbara retired to a senior citizens facility in Sykesville, Maryland.

John Wortman will be remembered for his singing in the woods as he traversed the net lanes and his kind disposition and friendly manner. John was a gentle net tender and super with the children during bird walks. John and his wife were the hosts for the party after every Christmas Count in Harford County.

Dave Seitz was our friendly giant. He was another gentle net tender and had a way with the children on binoculatr walks that was fascinating. It seemed he never had trouble finding birds for the kids to see.
