HGOO BANDING DATA

This page contains links to the Banding Data of the Harford Glen Ornithological Observatory for 23,535 birds of 124 species banded between 1980 and December 31, 2015. Detailed data requests are given consideration and information is provided free of charge if the purpose is extending knowledge to preserve a species. Please feel free to e-mail a request for specific data you might need (use the contact form accessed from the home page). All are welcome to look at the data but its use in the preparation of technical papers in whole, or in part, is strictly prohibited without the express written consent of the Observatory. The data was revised to remove some bandings that would skew the results, including a few AFMO bandings. Birds Banded at Rocks State Park, which was the temporary site of the Education Center during construction of the new dorms is included despite its different location (the ten minute block north of HGOO) because effort and site biology were consistent.

Commercial use of this data is strictly prohibited.

Banding of Northern Saw Whet Owls is performed by the observatory but not at Harford Glen. Therefore, that data is not considered part of the information developed from banding birds at Harford Glen. With minor exceptions all owl banding is undertaken at Turkey Point in Elk Neck State Park. All data is included in reports on the owl banding listed under the heading of WHAT'S NEW, click on that choice in the menu on the left.

Ken has been trying to use our data on White-throated Sparrows to determine if there is any significance to the measured decline of bandings of that species at the Glen between 1982 and 2007. Some Graphs and comments are included for those interested in that species.
